PUBLICATION ETHICS

MADANI: Jurnal Kajian Sosial, Budaya, Agama dan Pendidikan is committed to upholding high ethical standards in all aspects of the publication process. We adhere to the principles of publication ethics established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers) are expected to follow the ethical guidelines below:

Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their submitted work is original and free from plagiarism. Any use of others' work must be properly cited and credited.

  • Multiple Submissions: Authors must not submit the same or substantially similar article to more than one journal simultaneously.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors must acknowledge all sources that have contributed to their research and provide accurate references.

  • Authorship: Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research and writing of the manuscript should be listed as authors. All listed authors must approve the final version of the article and agree to its submission.

  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflicts of interest that could influence the outcomes or interpretation of their research.

  • Significant Errors in Published Work: If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly inform the journal editor and cooperate in retracting or correcting the article.

Responsibilities of Editors

  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which articles are suitable for publication based on the manuscript's validity and relevance to readers. These decisions should be guided by peer review and the journal’s editorial policies.

  • Fairness: Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.

  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted materials and not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, or the publisher.

  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the written consent of the author.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication with the author, may help improve the quality of the manuscript.

  • Objectivity and Constructiveness: Reviews should be conducted objectively and constructively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

  • Confidentiality: All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not discuss the manuscript with others except as authorized by the editor.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. They should also alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and any other published work they are aware of.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the manuscript.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • Integrity: The publisher must support editors in maintaining the integrity of the academic record and assist in the investigation of suspected ethical misconduct.

  • Editorial Independence: The publisher must ensure that editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by commercial or political interests.
