Plagiarism Policy

Introduction

ASKES: Jurnal Agama, Sains & Kesehatan is a scientific journal dedicated to publishing high-quality articles in the field of health. To maintain academic integrity and the trust of readers, the journal is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards, including a strict anti-plagiarism policy.


Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of using another person’s work, ideas, data, or words without proper attribution and presenting them as one’s own. This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Using exact text from another source without quotation marks or proper citation.

  2. Paraphrasing ideas from other sources without appropriate acknowledgment.

  3. Presenting data or research findings from others without permission or attribution.

  4. Using images, tables, or figures from other sources without permission and citation.

  5. Submitting the same or substantially similar article to more than one journal (self-plagiarism).


Policy and Procedures

1. Submission and Initial Declaration

  • All authors submitting articles to ASKES: Jurnal Agama, Sains & Kesehatan must sign a declaration confirming that the work is original, unpublished, and free from plagiarism.

  • Authors must ensure that all sources of information and citations are correctly referenced in the bibliography.

2. Plagiarism Screening

  • Each submitted manuscript will be checked for plagiarism using detection software such as Turnitin, Grammarly, or iThenticate.

  • If the similarity index exceeds 25% (excluding properly cited quotations and bibliography), the editorial team will conduct further review to determine whether plagiarism has occurred.

3. Actions Against Plagiarism

  • Minor Plagiarism: If minor plagiarism is identified (e.g., a few sentences), the author will be given the opportunity to revise the text and provide appropriate attribution.

  • Major Plagiarism: If significant plagiarism is found (e.g., several paragraphs or more), the manuscript will be automatically rejected. The author will be informed of the reason and provided guidance on how to avoid plagiarism in the future.

  • Self-Plagiarism: If self-plagiarism is identified, the author will be required to revise the manuscript to meet the journal’s originality standards.

4. Sanctions

  • Authors found to have committed major plagiarism may be banned from submitting to ASKES: Jurnal Agama, Sains & Kesehatan for a certain period (e.g., 1–2 years).

  • In cases of serious or repeated offenses, the journal reserves the right to notify the author’s affiliated institution and take legal action if necessary.

5. Disclosure and Reporting

  • ASKES: Jurnal Agama, Sains & Kesehatan is committed to handling all reports of suspected plagiarism promptly and fairly. Authors, editors, reviewers, or readers who identify suspected plagiarism in the journal’s publications are encouraged to report it to the editorial team as soon as possible.

  • All reports will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken based on the evidence available.

6. Plagiarism Prevention

  • The journal will actively promote awareness of plagiarism and publication ethics among authors, reviewers, and editors through seminars, workshops, and written guidelines.

  • ASKES: Jurnal Agama, Sains & Kesehatan will also provide resources to help authors understand proper citation and referencing practices, as well as the importance of maintaining academic integrity.
