PLAGIARISM SCREENING

DEDIKASI: Jurnal Riset Pendidikan dan Pengabdian upholds a strong commitment to academic honesty and scientific integrity. Therefore, all submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening to ensure originality and to avoid unethical duplication.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's work, ideas, or words as one’s own without proper attribution. The following forms of plagiarism are considered serious violations:

  • Directly copying text (copy-paste) without quotation marks and citation.

  • Rephrasing sentences from original sources without proper acknowledgment (paraphrasing without attribution).

  • Self-plagiarism: Reusing one's previously published work without clear disclosure or permission from the previous publisher.

  • Duplicating data or images without permission or source indication.

  • Adopting ideas or structural elements of a work without citing the original author.

2. Plagiarism Detection Tools

Each manuscript will be screened using plagiarism detection software such as:

  • Turnitin, or

  • iThenticate, or

  • Plagiarism Checker X (optional, as a supplementary tool)

Screening is conducted by the editorial team prior to the peer review process.

3. Plagiarism Tolerance Threshold

  • The maximum allowed similarity index is 25%, with the following conditions:

    • No single source should contribute more than 5% similarity.

    • Direct quotes must be enclosed in quotation marks and properly cited.

    • The bibliography is excluded from the similarity count.

  • Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned to the author for revision.

  • If substantial plagiarism remains after revision, the manuscript will be rejected outright.

4. Sanctions and Actions

If plagiarism is detected, the following actions will apply:

  • Before peer review: The manuscript will be rejected immediately and will not proceed to review.

  • After acceptance or publication: The article will be retracted and publicly marked as such on the journal’s website.

  • The author(s) may be blacklisted from submitting to the journal for a certain period.

  • In severe or intentional cases, the journal will report the misconduct to the author’s affiliated institution.

5. Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must declare that the submitted manuscript is original and free of plagiarism by signing a Statement of Originality.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to perform their own plagiarism check before submission using reliable tools.
